MobiliseYourCity Asian Regional Forum: Transitec to speak on mobility planning and paratransit

From November 7-9, the Agence Française du Développement (AFD) and the Asian Development Bank are organising a Forum as part of the MobiliseYourCity initiative to strengthen their support for urban areas wishing to improve their mobility systems. Transitec will be presenting its experience.

As part of the MobiliseYourCity initiative, Agence Française du Développement (AFD) and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) are organising a regional event in Asia to strengthen their support for urban areas wishing to improve their mobility systems in order to tackle climate change. The forum which will take place between November 7 and 9 in Manila (Philippines) is entitled "Urban Mobility for a Just and Low Carbon Transition". It will highlight the importance of Sustainable Urban Mobility Plans (SUMPs) in a context of rapid motorisation and increasing emissions and pollution in urban areas. The event will be attended by decision-makers from the region, the private sector and international experts. It will feature discussion forums to present major advances and case studies, as well as workshops on themes around sustainable mobility planning.

Transitec has been invited to present the results of recent projects, particularly on the subjects of paratransit and the link between urban planning and mobility planning. On the strength of its experience in developing SUMPs in cities such as Ahmedabad, Dakar, Maputo, Tangiers, Agadir, Sousse, Nouakchott, Yaoundé among others, and in drafting framework documents for professionals responsible for producing SUMPs, the Transitec teams were asked to share their vision of multimodal mobility that is adapted and adaptable to the specific contexts of each agglomeration.

At the session on reforms to paratransit, Transitec will be presenting its African experience in this area, providing a basis for dialogue with Asian professionals.
